Joe Rudd from Prior Pursglove College, who graduated from Career Ready in 2015, shares how the programme gave him the confidence and skills to get on the right career path.
Before I joined the Career Ready programme I had just finished secondary school, with my GCSE results. By the time I had finished college I had a part-time job with Santander due to the Career Ready internship I had with them over the summer.
I’m now working for Nestle in their York office as a management accountant, where I support the procurement buying teams, and studying for my CIMA studies with Kaplan – completing this will be my next major milestone in my career journey.
It sounds clichéd but without the support of Career Ready and the opportunities they provided me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
The internships they help you get, such as the one I had at Santander, are such a great stepping stone into the world of work. The programme also helps you to learn how to be successful in job interviews and build your CV effectively. It really is one of the best programmes out there if you want to feel prepared for work and it’ll give you an edge over the competition.
