Cara Brown from Kinross High School, a nominee for Career Ready’s Sir Win Bischoff Award, talks about how her time on the Career Ready programme has helped her develop the skills, confidence, and qualities to kick-start a successful future.
Before I started the Career Ready programme I had very little confidence and was a career path that I didn’t want to be on. I was planning on just dropping out of school and I didn’t have the support to point me in the direction I should be going in.
Thanks to my time on the Career Ready programme I’ve really grown in confidence and found a career path which is right for me – I’ve changed course and developed career prospects. I am now so much more aware of what’s available to me and the overall world of work.
I think that the most significant influence in helping me to develop as I have is the guidance and support of my mentor. Emma helped me to discover my strengths and take the plunge towards the job and career I want. Without her support, and the opportunities provided to me by Career Ready, I would have just dropped out of school and not lived up to my potential.
