Bromley College Career Ready student helps out at Apprenticeships Fair

Bromley College student Nadia Tarik shared her experience on the Career Ready programme with fellow students as she helped her mentor, Jane Rogers, exhibit at her college’s Apprenticeships Fair during National Apprenticeship Week.

Nadia, who is interested in a career in marketing and PR within the property sector, gained first hand experience of planning for an event and setting up an exhibition. Speaking to more than 120 attendees at the fair held at Bromley College on Friday 12 March, Nadia and her mentor shared information about PR apprenticeships and what the Career Ready programme can offer students.

"The event was a great opportunity for me to represent Career Ready and give other people an insight into what it's like. I think it's important to give the student’s perspective, not just the teacher's or employer's views," said Nadia. As well as relating her experience on the Career Ready programme, Nadia also networked with people at the fair and received career advice from industry professionals.

Jane Rogers, Founder and Owner of her own consultancy, Jane Rogers PR, is a mentor and Local Advisory Board member. She said: “When I was given the opportunity to promote careers in PR at the college’s Apprenticeships Fair, I wanted Nadia to join me because I knew it’d be great experience for her to learn more about what I do and see some PR in action."
