Career Ready calls on London employers to open their doors to young people

National charity, Career Ready, is asking the capital’s employers to open their doors to young people and take part in the largest employer engagement event of its kind.

On Thursday 7 December, students from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland will visit London to attend A Capital Experience – the annual launch of the Career Ready programme, preparing young people for the world of work.

In the afternoon, students from more than 200 schools and colleges will visit one of the capital’s workplaces to get their first glimpse of the world of work. Career Ready is calling on London’s employers to host a school or college for a few hours in the afternoon.

Hosting a workplace visit is a simple, but effective, way of bridging the gap between education and the world of work, and can help students to realise the incredible possibilities that are out there for them. Hearing students’ reactions to your familiar day-to-day environment can make you see your own business in a new light.

Employers who have already agreed to host visits include: DHL, Freshfields, Arcadis, Network Rail, Moodys, Aon and BP.

Before visiting an employer, students will come together at The Dominion Theatre to hear from previous Career Ready students and be inspired by motivational speaker Action Jackson. For more information about last year’s event, click here
