On Friday 20 November, Citigroup played host to more than 70 students from across London and the South East as they celebrated their graduation from the Career Ready programme with friends, parents, mentors and teachers.
During the ceremony, held at Citi’s Canary Wharf Offices, one student from each school and college spoke about their experiences on the programme, their internships and mentors as well as their plans for the future.
Usama Yusuf, a Career Ready graduate from Quintin Kynaston Community Academy who was MC for the ceremony, gave a personal insight into the impact that the programme had on him: "During my time on the Career Ready programme I spent six weeks on a paid internship at Citi and got the chance to meet some amazing people who all helped me develop my skills.
“Make sure you are constantly learning – as long as you're always learning you can't go wrong. I know that there are exciting times ahead for me and all of the other graduates in this room.”
Students were presented with a certificate for completing the programme, and invited to networking event after the ceremony.
Michael Guralnik, Managing Director and Global Head of Corporate at Citi, who met many of the students at their internships at Citi over the summer, wrapped up the ceremony. He said: “Citi were proud to host more than 40 interns for Career Ready students this year in our offices in Canary Wharf.
“All of us at Citi would like to say thank you to every intern who worked with us this summer. Getting to know you has helped us grow – we're on the same journey as you.”
