Career Ready was given a Commitment to the Community Award in the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards on Friday 25 November at the Crieff Hydro Hotel in Perthshire.
The award, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, was given in recognition of the positive impact the Career Ready programme has had on young people across the region.
Michelle Wheeler, Career Ready Regional Manager for Perth & Kinross, said: “This award is recognition for everyone involved with the Career Ready partnership. It’s for all of our employers who do so much to help local young people to understand the world of work, for all school coordinators across Perth & Kinross who make sure young people get this opportunity and for our mentors, who say that they have developed their skills as a result of the programme.
“Most of all, this award is for our 200+ Perth & Kinross students who work hard to change their own life chances.”
The award comes as Career Ready extends the reach of its programme in Scotland. This year new local authority areas, West Lothian, Stirling and Clackmannanshire, joined more than 100 schools who already run the programme.
Judges of the award said: “We are impressed by how much Career Ready has grown within their sector and how their work impacts individuals, families and the wider community.”
