On Thursday 7 December more than 70 of London's top companies took part in A Capital Experience and helped students from across the UK gain the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to become career ready.
A Capital Experience - hosted by Career Ready at The Dominion Theatre - brings together Career Ready students from England, Wales, and Northern Ireland for a morning of masterclasses on the skills they will need to kick-start a successful future, and an afternoon of workplace visits to some of London's top companies.
Research shows that workplace visits are crucial in helping young people become career ready, as 'young adults who recall four or more employer-led activities at school are five times less likely to be NEET.'
In total, nearly 1,500 young people from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland came to London for A Capital Experience, which marks the start of their Career Ready programme.
Anne Spackman, Career Ready CEO, said:
“It is always fantastic to welcome students from right across the country to experience work and life in the capital. To walk into those glass and marble towers and realise that they are welcome and could work there, is an inspirational moment.
“We hope that moment of inspiration will stay with them throughout the programme and motivate them to aim higher in their future careers.”
Career Ready aims to make young people work-ready by delivering a programme of mentoring, masterclasses, workplace visits and internships in schools and colleges across the UK.
It's been a great day engaging with some fantastic young people interested in a career in #Construction.
