Simone Lockhart, Search Consultancy’s Managing Director for Scotland, has been selected to chair Career Ready’s Local Advisory Board for Glasgow.
Simone will lead board members in opening the door to the business world for young people across the 22 and growing participating Glasgow secondary schools.
As the driving force behind the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games recruitment campaign carried out by Search ahead of the event, Simone is well placed to add her expertise on the best strategies to ensure Glasgow’s students are ready for the challenges of employment and are inspired about their future careers.
Simone said: “Personally, making a difference to young people and helping the next generation make the transition from school to work is something very close to my heart. I was once a student eager to make my way in the business world so I fully support the fantastic work carried out by Career Ready.
“As a business and as a recruiter, it is vitally important for Search to maintain a strong connection with what’s going on in schools so I’m delighted to be that link and have a hand in encouraging the city’s future workforce.”
Search has also agreed to provide five mentors for students on the Career Ready programme.
Caroline Johnstone, Regional Manager for the Central Belt, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Simone – she is a great addition to our Glasgow board and team.
“Career Ready gives students with little family background of higher education or professional careers the confidence, skills and networks to achieve their potential – students who need the guidance and opportunities to compete on a level playing field for the best careers in the country.
“None of what we do is possible without our employer supporters, who through Career Ready get the chance to find the next generation of talented employees and develop their own skills.
I know Simone will continue to build the strong relationships we have with the many other businesses we work alongside and will bring some new supporters our way.”
