Eighty Career Ready mentors and second year students from across London and the South East attended a networking event at the Gherkin last week.
The event, hosted by Standard Life, was the fourth in a successful series of sessions designed to encourage students to develop their networking skills and confidence as part of the Career Ready programme. Previous events have been sponsored by Clifford Chance, Deutsche Boerse and Freshfields Bruckhouse Deringer.
The event allowed students to reflect on their summer internships and celebrate their successes on the Career Ready programme so far. Students were also set a challenge to work with their mentor to prepare an elevator pitch for an internship or a job that they’d like and then practice the pitch on a different mentor in the room.
Aimi Driver, Career Ready Lead Manager for London and the South East, said:
“We are extremely grateful to Standard Life for hosting the fourth in our series of successful networking events and allowing our mentors and students to enjoy the best views in London.
“It was clear that students had grown in confidence over their summer internships. The room was full of enthusiastic mentees, all wanting to practice their communication skills with one another and it’s fantastic to see how much they’ve developed during their time on the programme.”
