Five new Career Ready logistics centres will open this month and take their first cohort of students this academic year.
The centres will be opened in the North East of England, the East Midlands, the South West, Humberside and Greater Manchester. Career Ready, in partnership with Think Logistics, has a target to open 50 logistics centres by the end of 2018.
Think Logistics is an employer led initiative that is raising awareness among young people of the range of career options within the logistics and transport industries.
The logistics sector employs more than two million people in the UK and offers a wide range of careers, with fantastic development and advancement opportunities. The Think Logistics campaign aims to address the misconceptions and negative stereotypes about the industry.
As part of the Career Ready logistics programme, students attend an interactive Think Logistics workshop, where they hear from industry experts.
The Think Logistics project also exhibits at a number of major trade events to encourage more companies to engage. In November Think Logistics will be co-exhibiting with the Edge Foundation at the Skills Show. Students and teachers are welcome to attend.
