Think Logistics to hit the small screen

Think Logistics will feature on Truck World TV after the scheme’s latest workshop at Blackpool Sixth Form College was filmed by TV Company Bigtank Productions.

Think Logistics is an industry-led initiative delivered by Career Ready to encourage 16-19 year olds into a career within the transport and logistics sector.

Samantha Brown, Curriculum Leader in Business & IT at Blackpool Sixth Form College, said: “The Think Logistics workshop has been a truly eye-opening experience for our students – we were all surprised at just how many careers exist in the logistics industry.

“There really does seem to be something for everyone and our young people were left invigorated at the prospect of the logistics sector offering real, long-term career opportunities.”

Think Logistics is the brain-child of Abbey Logistics’ Steve Granite and has the full-backing of the RHA, the FTA and a number of leading truck operators including DAF Trucks.

Career Ready has opened five new Think Logistics centres in the North East, Humberside, East Midlands, South West and Greater Manchester. To date, over 400 young people have attended Think Logistics workshops.

Bigtank’s Rob Hallam said: “Having filmed for many years within all aspects of the transport industry, we know what an exciting and innovating world it is but there is still work to be done in getting this message out to the wider population and in particular to young people.

“We jumped at the chance to include the Think Logistics programme, as seeing young people actively engaged and enthusiastic about the career opportunities the industry offers is a real buzz and certainly works wonders in attracting new blood into the industry we know and love.”

Think Logistics plan to open 50 Career Ready logistics centres by September 2018. To find out more about Think Logistics, click here
