Think Logistics, in partnership with Abbey Logistics and Career Ready, accepted the SHD Logistics Award 2016 for Future Skills on Thursday 15 September, presented by leading comedian Mark Watson in front of 600 industry professionals.
The event, which took place at Resorts World Birmingham, celebrated excellence in the logistics sector. Think Logistics won the Future Skills award, sponsored by the Unipart Group, in recognition of their commitment to opening young people’s eyes to the logistics industry.
Career Ready has been working with a growing group of logistics companies, including founding company Abbey Logistics, for three years to deliver Think Logistics – an industry-led initiative that aims to raise the profile of the logistics industry with young people and increase their awareness of the career pathways available to them within the sector.
Ian Nichol, Career Ready STEM Development Manager, said: “We are very pleased to have won an SHD Logistics Award this year – the Future Skills award shows the impact that Think Logistics is having on young people across the UK. It is our second national award of the year.
"We have big ambitions for Think Logistics, with 50 centres planned across the UK by 2018. We are delighted to have been given this award – it’s a mark of the success we have had so far not least in continuing to recruit more industry supporters.”
The awards acknowledged the achievements of the industry in 11 main categories. Other winners on the night included PD Ports, a supporter of the Think Logistics initiative, who won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
Peter MacLeod, Editor of SHD Logistics, said: “The mood of the evening was celebratory and upbeat, and it was heartening to see the obvious delight and pride shown by the winners. I congratulate Think Logistics – a very deserving winner.”
