Wester Hailes students promote programme to high-profile audiences

First year Career Ready students from Wester Hailes Education Centre, Edinburgh were given the opportunity to deliver presentations to Alan Milburn, Labour party politician and ex-MP, and a group of distinguished partner agencies as part of the Commission on Social Mobility and Child Poverty. The students discussed their experiences on the Career Ready programme, including how they feel it has benefited them.

On the same day, the students also welcomed teachers from Norway, and spoke of the opportunities and successes they have enjoyed through the Career Ready programme.

Wester Hailes students, John Gainford and Katie Ritchie, have also recently made an appearance on BBC news. They discussed university expectations and the professional pathways offered to pupils.

Kristyna Macsween, Curriculum Leader Health and Wellbeing at Wester Hailes, spoke highly of the students and said: “We are very proud to have such a successful group of Career Ready pupils conquering their nerves and delivering professional views at the highest levels.”
