Workplace visits

Visiting a real workplace gives young people insight into the world of work and enables them to see the key skills, attitudes, and behaviors they need to kickstart a rewarding future. It’s also a great way for young people to learn about employment sectors which they may not have previously heard of.

Schools & Colleges

Our workplace visits and enterprise activities are facilitated visits to local employers from a range of sectors, which enable you to achieve Gatsby Benchmarks 1,3,5 & 6 for Good Career Guidance. Seeing how a business works at first hand can be an unforgettable experience and spur students on in their studies.

How they work

We arrange a facilitated visit to a local employer for a group of 20-30 young people and a member of school staff. Students will get the opportunity to tour a workplace, see what really goes on in the world of work, and learn from the experience, behaviour, and attitude of the employees.

Lasting approximately half a day, visits usually start with a tour of the workplace followed by a workshop or a masterclass. In these workshops, students learn about employability skills (such as CV writing or dressing for success) to the organisational structure of the business.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Salesforce more than I thought I would. It very much opened my eyes to how companies can operate and what type of people you could meet and what doors can open after college and University.

Volunteers & Employers

Workplace visits are an exciting and time-sensitive way for you to help young people. It’s often the first time our students have entered a workplace and it’s an experience that can have a deep effect on them. Hearing their reactions to your familiar day-to-day environment can also make you see your own business in a new light.

How they work

Workplace visits and workshops are a simple but effective way to bridge the gap between school and the world of work.

Visits usually start with a tour of the workplace followed by a workshop or masterclass. In these workshops, you can discuss anything from employability skills (such as CV writing or dressing for success) to the organisational structure of your business or wider subjects such as corporate social responsibility.

Workplace visits last approximately half a day and involve a group of 20-30 young people who are accompanied by a member of school staff.

We help take care of all the organisation so there is no added work for you.
